Architectural Philosophy & Construction

Engineered into the sheer granite face above Winkelmatten, the Matterhorn Peak Sanctuary represents a harmonious dialogue between modern structural engineering and traditional Alpine materiality. The residence utilizes locally harvested dark larch wood, treated with natural pine resin oils, juxtaposed against hand-cut Valaisian granite stone blocks.

The building’s triple-glazed structural glass walls provide complete thermal insulation while framing unobstructed views of the Matterhorn (4,478 m). Acoustic engineering dampens outside winds to near absolute silence, ensuring deep restorative sleep in an environment with virtually zero ambient light pollution.

Glacial Hydrotherapy & Wellness Suite

At the lower elevation tier of the chalet lies the private hydrothermal wing. Water is drawn directly from high-altitude glacial runoff, filtered through volcanic stone layers, and heated via carbon-neutral geothermal heat pumps to an optimal 38.5°C.

  • External Heated In-Ground Pool: Seamless slate rim overlooking the Matterhorn North Face.
  • Finnish Pine Bio-Sauna: Infused with wild Swiss stone pine (*Arve*) oils known to reduce heart rates and alleviate cortisol levels.
  • Cold Hydro Plunge: Maintained at 4°C for targeted circulatory activation following sauna cycles.

Living Quarters & Curated Amenities

The interior layout encompasses 480 square meters across three tiered levels connected by a minimalist oak cantilever staircase and private hydraulic elevator:

  1. Grand Living Room: Double-height ceilings, suspended central steel fireplace, custom modular wool furniture from Swiss artisans.
  2. Master Suites: Four primary suites, each equipped with freestanding granite bathtubs, private balconies, and hypoallergenic organic goose down bedding.
  3. Sommelier's Cellar: Temperature-regulated storage containing curated Valaisian Petite Arvine and Cornalin vintages.
